Contemplating

As junior year is wrapping up, I begin to think about senior year and the dreaded college applications. I already know where I’m applying and everything, but I don’t know what I’m going to put down as my intended major. Do I say “undecided?” Biology? Chemistry? Pre-med (For only some schools, haha.)? I don’t even know if I want to study medicine. I really do enjoy the sciences and being able to help people with that knowledge; but do I enjoy it enough to commit the rest of my life to it? Will I commit to studying medicine? Will I commit to studying for the MCAT? Will I commit to med school? It seems as if I have a fear of commitment to certain things pertaining to studies.

All of these thoughts make me turn towards just the sciences. However, I don’t want to sit in a lab all day typing up papers and executing procedures. I’d rather be able to walk around, communicate with others, and solve problems. I also want to be able to help people.

Then these thoughts make me wonder if I’m really a “people person.” I want to help others with my knowledge of the sciences and medicines, but what if I helped animals instead and became a veterinarian?

I don’t even know. I just want to know what I want to do as soon as possible.

Why is it so hard for me to know what I want to do exactly with my life?
